I LOVE LEARNING...

I know I haven't posted for some time...just sorting out alot of "stuff". I am very excited though to be taking an online class taught by Jane DesRosier of Gritty Arts Studio. Sadly the class is full but she will be doing more at a later date. Her videos are just like having her right in the room with you. I'm lovin it! I have made lots of dolls in the past but this is a new technique for me. What is it about seeing things anew and the possibilities they hold, that causes some of us to get so excited, so wired?!

I believe that God ingrained this in us. There are so many references to renewal, anticipation, and joy in relation to a new start in the bible. Of course the ones spoken of are all about what awesome things God has done for us and in us and the promise that He will finish His work. But on a simpler level, in light of beginning something new, isn't the Holy Spirit present in all aspects of our lives? When God created the world and humankind in His own image He put the emotions He feels within us all. We know what it feels like to be given a second chance (or 3rd, or 4th...). The Hope that comes with the promise of wiping that slate clean and starting again from that point as if it were our first step...That spark of anticipation we feel when we think of Jesus coming back to get us, a literal leaping of the heart...it's God-breathed!

"This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It's adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike "What's next, Papa?" God's Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what's coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance! We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we're certainly going to go through the good times with him! " Romans 8:15-17 The Message

Great post, Lisa. Art is so God-inspired. And I believe He even uses people who don't even know they are part of the bigger plan! By the way, where do you find that wonderful music?

Krissy you are so right about that. I used to teach wood folk art painting workshops (primitive stuff) and there were always a few people who didn't think they could do it. They would get so excited with their finished projects...you could just see the light in their eyes. I get the music from projectplaylist.com. It's free. You set up an account, make a list and post it to your blog. Fun stuff.

Hi Lisa. I just wanted to stop by and thank you for your post. Not so much the stuff about the workshop as the God stuff that followed. I had a hard heart and when I was reminded about how Our Father has given us many second chances, my anger melted away and I left your blog to try and make amends. Thank you for your devotion. Jane

The workshop was so much fun, I coudn't finish the challenge doll but I am happy with my little dollie.
I have to give up my studio for a couple of weeks because we were helping my husband's friend with insurance claims from hurricane Ike. Now thing are normal and I am ready to use my God given creating side.
